The Fund is managed by experienced property and Fund professionals.  The Management team has a long track record in commercial property, development, law and corporate finance.


The Management team are responsible for identifying potential commercial property opportunities to purchase and for carrying out due diligence before presenting the investment to the General Partner for Board permission to proceed with the purchase. The management team will then negotiate the purchase and arrange any Bank funding necessary to secure the investment. Post-acquisition the team will manage the investment and endeavour to identify and act on opportunities to enhance the capital value on behalf of the investors. This will include carrying out rent reviews, lease renewal /regearing and exploiting underused assets through refurbishment, re-letting or small scale building alterations / extensions.


Iain Brechin BSc (HONS) MRICS

Iain is the principal asset manager. He has 30 years of experience in all sectors of commercial property and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and Professional Associate of the RICS.

In previous roles, Iain was responsible for portfolio formation, asset management and sales in Donaldsons and commercial property acquisition and development in Chesterton PLC before starting his own consultancy practice over 15 years ago. He now specialises in Fund Management.

Geoffrey has recently stepped down as CEO of Braveheart Investment Group plc having founded the firm 18 years ago.  Braveheart is an AIM listed debt, equity and mezzanine investor in SME’s and has c£125m under management with a portfolio of 130 investments.  Funds are provided by public and private sector and include HMG, EIB, ERDF, pension funds and a large number of HMW investors. Over the period investor returns stood at 24% IRR and exits included six IPOs and a number of high profile trade sales.   
In the 90’s Geoffrey worked as a corporate turnaround specialist and before that he ran his own venture capital backed business.

Glen Gilson LLB (HONS), Dip LP, NS, WS

Glen is the Managing Partner of Gilson Gray, an award winning law firm recognised as Firm of the Year, Scottish Company of the Year and Client Service Firm of the Year. He is experienced in the establishment of commercial property funds and has significant executive and Board level experience across a range of sectors. 

Glen and his firm will provide legal and commercial expertise to guide Castlelaw through the various stages of investment.

Ron Law
After a successful fast track management role in banking during the early 90’s Ron was offered the chance to jointly found a property company. Despite a depressed market at the time it soon expanded, finding and funding successful projects in and around Scotland as well as London and Ireland. 

In 1997 his own property development and investment company, Glenmorison based in Rutland Square, Edinburgh was born.
Ron’s specialty includes spotting investment opportunities in residential and commercial property, often with a development angle, throughout the UK but in particular around Edinburgh and central belt of Scotland. Land and buildings are acquired though his company, personally or on a joint venture basis. Success has been achieved through his “Experience of riding out the peaks and troughs of the market by sourcing off market opportunities, analysis of the sectors invested in,  and good timing”

Matthew Gray

Matthew is Managing Director of Property Services at Gilson Gray and the Scottish National Executive for the National Association of Estate Agents. He has over 20 years of expertise in property having worked for two national corporate, one independent and two solicitor/ estate agencies.

Matthew believes that the key to success is the creation of a team of highly trained individuals who appreciate and understand the complexities of the ever changing property market.

Nick joined Knight Frank and Rutley in their London HQ as a graduate surveyor in 1994, was promoted to Partner in 2002 and relocated to his native Edinburgh in 2004, where he headed up Knight Frank’s agency and development team.

In January 2007, Nick joined CALA Properties as a Regional Acquisitions Director responsible for the identification, evaluation and delivery of new deal opportunities prior to his appointment in 2009, as senior economic development advisor to the City of Edinburgh Council, where he was responsible for the delivery of efficiencies across CEC’s sector-wide occupational and non-occupational real estate portfolios.

In 2011, Nick co-founded CuthbertWhite - an independent property consultancy based in Edinburgh city-centre.

Advising the owners, occupiers and developers of commercial property on a UK and sector-wide basis, CuthbertWhite has forged a compelling reputation for dynamic office agency and development services within their local markets – underpinning investment analysis and maximizing client return.
